Confused about free font licences?

By 23 January, 2015 One Comment

Whether you spell it as licence or license, it still doesn’t make it any easier to figure out the confusing subject that is font licences. In general, Personal Use typically refers to any use that is not meant to generate profit whereas Commercial Use is for companies or individuals that may profit from the use of the font. Hopefully the table below will clear a few things up about free font licences and which fonts you can only use for personal use versus fonts which can be used for both personal and commercial use…so we can get back to the fun of designing rather than being bogged down with all the gobbledygook legal stuff which, let’s face it, we fall asleep after reading the first sentence of.
